The Current Japanese Problem
The problem in Japan in recent years is "death from overwork".Death from overwork is sickening and death due to overwork and stress caused by work.
As a form of onset of illness, it causes suffering of stroke or heart disease, suddenly collapses and dies, it causes a severe asthmatic attack and dies, and suicide is caused by the onset of depression. The term "death from overwork" was first used by medical scientists in the latter half of the 1970s, but it came to be used widely in Japanese society about thirty years ago and later in the late 1980s. The number of overworked deaths officially recognized by the Japanese government (Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare) is about 200 people a year on average over the last 10 years, but these numbers are only a tip of the iceberg. In addition to this, there are many people who took a long-term detention, but are forced to long-term medical treatment due to severe illness.
One of the causes of death from overwork is long hours labor for extension and application of years of service of Article 36 of the Labor Standards Act.
In the future, in order to eliminate long hours work and eliminate death from overwork, we should consider countermeasures based on the following three points.First, Japanese managers have learned from historically formed "long working days myths", learned from European countries such as Germany, France, Sweden and so on, in a direction to advance management with shorter working hours To make a big decision to cut the rudder.Secondly, the Japanese Government should actively participate in this issue, appropriately use state power to resolve long-term work by amending legislation, thorough administrative monitoring, etc.Thirdly, it is important that the public side respects the human rights of workers, participates in workplace transformation by expressing opinions and necessary criticisms to managers and governments. Also, in daily life, by seeking excessive services from the citizen side, reflect on whether you are promoting the harsh labor of workers and take due consideration. Based on the above points, it is important for each citizen to take it as a problem of themselves and build up discussions on ways to prevent overwork death in Japan.
